St. Augustine grass needs twice as much water as bermuda grass. This might not seem like a big deal now, but in the long run, it will show up in your monthly water bill. Taking care of a turf is the key to keeping it in good shape. If you don’t want to do extra work, choose bermuda.
The type of soil

When your soil doesn’t have enough iron chelate or iron sulphate, it’s hard for St. Augustine grass to grow. Even though it needs the same amount of potassium as other grass, it needs to be fertilised at least once every two months.
Bermuda grass, on the other hand, needs soil that is high in nitrogen. It can grow in both acidic and basic soil conditions.
